EVERYTHING COMES FULL CIRCLE - Well here I am sitting in the UNC library on the UNC campus some two years after I made my last and only trip here. Back then I was just ending my sophomore year at Ithaca College and had traveled with my finest friend, Kevin Garafaolo all the way down here for he could move into his new house and prepare for his life at UNC. You see after two years at Ithaca he had gotten tired of bullcrap at IC and decided to hightail it south.
Now I'm here again, with my best friend again, as they wonder if this is the place they will once again leave me for. It's a bit more personal this time, as the friend is my girlfriend.
But it's quite ironic as I sitting here in this same UNC library as I was 25 months ago. On that day I was in desperate search of a computer with internet access and eventually found one here in the library. The same scenorio has led me to this computer again. Now the circumstances have changed a bit. Twenty Four months ago I wanted to get in touch with my then girlfriend, Meredith. Ironic now that I haven't talked to her in almost 20 months and have so completely fallen in love with another girl that I would follow her down here, where Kevin once took me two years ago.
I know none of this is really releveant to anyone (that isn't me) but I had to document the irony and deja vu of the situation .

WORLDLY PREDICTION - It's time for the Fall Classic. Oh, how I love this week of the year. And isn't it nice to not have the Yankees playing in it for once? In fact we have one team, the Angels, which has never appeared in the World Series, and one team, the Giants, that hasn't won a World Series since they were the New York Giants in 1954. Talk about fresh blood. But on to the matter at hand, who will win the 2002 Major League Baseball World Series between the San Franciso Giants of the National League and the Anahiem Angels of the American League?
To start, the Giants, have a distinct advantage since they have the best baseball player of the last half century Barry Bonds. A man so feared by opposing teams they he was walked a self-record shattering 198 times. He is flanked in the Giants lineup by former MVP Jeff Kent, who actually had a matter year then in 2000 when he won said MVP award. The Giants also have the best shortshop in the National League, Rich Aurilia, who though hurt for most of the year is very healty now. Through in an excellent, but aging leadoff hitter in Kenny Loften and the Giants have a strong top of the lineup.
However for the Angels the entire lineup is pretty strong. There's no one big gun but there are a whole bunch of solid to good hitters going 1-9. Number five hitter and third basemen Troy Glaus is the American League's top player at that position and has shown it with an explosive postseason. In fact the entire Angels lineup has had a historical fantastic postseason hitting the ball. Can in continue for one more series?
My thought is no. The difference here will be the pitching staff of the SF Giants. Namely Jason Schimt and Russ Ortiz who will likely out deal Anahiem guns Kevin Appier and Ramon Ortiz. If Schmidt and Ortiz pitch like they can they will seal this series for the Giants. If not, if they slip just a bit the Angels could come in and easily take the series since they are in possession of a slightly superior relief core. But both of these bullpens have been the best in baseball over the last two months of the season. There's little no difference between them. The difference in this series might actually come down to which one slips just a bit. I'm betting on Anahiem's.
Ryan's Pick: Giants in 6 games over Angels. (Bonds is given the MVP)
