SNEAK PEAK MOVIE OF THE DAY -

The Cast: Jeff Daniels, Robert Duvall, Mira Sorvino, Stephan Lang, Kali, Mia Dillon, C. Thomas Howell, Chris Conner, Bruce Boxleitner and 148 other speaking roles.
The Director: Robert Maxwell
The Screenwriter: Robert Maxwell, based on the novel by Jeff Shaara
The Story: A prequel to the movie "Gettysburg," the story follows the first two years of the American Civil War. The enormous ensemble peice hightlights, among others, Confederate General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson whose faith and courage and audacity made him an oustanding soldier and General Robert E. Lee's most trusted man. In contrast to Gettysburg, "Gods and Generals" also attempts to focus on the wives and families of the leading men who led others into bloody conflict.

Tom Berenger was asked to return as General Longstreet, but declined. I have no idea why. Apparently he feels his career will take a better direction doing made for television movies for ESPN. Bright guy. The majority of the cast of "Gettysburg" will return in "Gods and Generals" with the notable change of Robert Duvall replacing Marting Sheen as General Robert E. Lee (a great move in my opinion).
Well if you're a history buff, like me, then you don't need to really hear anymore to see this movie. If you're like me then you've probably seen the movie version of "Gettysburg" 25 or more times and cheered everytime Joshua Lawerence Chamberlian led his men down little roundtop, unless of course you were a reb. If so then you wept with Pickett when he said "General Lee, I have no division."
Either way it doesn't matter if you love history or if you love Civil War history of if you love the South because if you love great dramatic true stories of man engaged in life and death conflict, then you'll want to see Gods and Generals. If not...then it's your loss. :)
Gods and Generals, released by Warner Bros Pictures, is scheduled for a one week limited release on December 27th, 2002. It should be noted that this is only a small release to qualify the film for the Academy Awards of 2002. The film is scheduled for a national launch on February 21st, 2003.
